EMU OIL

A Natural Product and Renewable Resource.

WHAT IS EMU OIL? - Emu oil is a major byproduct of the processing of the Emu (Dromaius NovaelHolliandia) farmed in Australia under government license. The oil is derived from the body fat after processing to remove impurities - deodorized and bleached and then subjected to other special treatments to make a stable product

Physical Properties; The oil is white to slightly yellow in color, odorless and melts to a clear oil - It is non - toxic (therefore edible) non allergenic in it's pure form and none-irritant to mucous membranes The oil is chemically stable at room temperatures. It can withstand temperatures up to 144 degrees centigrade before igniting. The oil is bacteriostatic in it's pure form.

Biochemistry; oil is mixture of 100% pure fatty acids(FA) and a significant source of the essential fatty acids (EFA) Linoleic and Linolenic. These EFA's cannot be synthesized by the human or animal body and must normally be supplied in diets. Both poly saturated and monounsaturated fats arc contained in the oil.
The unique combination of FA's in the oil have evolved over the millennium as part of the emu's survival mechanism in Australia's harsh dry heat. They give the oil unique penetrating powers into surface tissues in order to moisturize and maintain their vitality. These attributes of the oil were recognized by the early inhabitants of the continent.

Historic Use; Both the original inhabitants and new settlers recognized the physical and clinical benefits of emu oil. It was used for sunburn ,general dryness of the skin, treatment of wounds muscle fatigue and joint pains. Mixed with oil of wintergreen it was used as a massage oil. The raw oil was applied to dry leather to regain it's suppleness and strength and as a lubricant on firearms.

Ingredient:      Emu       Oil

Emu oil is one of the most exciting and vital products generated from the native Australian bird known as the Emu. The emu is the second largest living bird on earth standing on average 5'6" tall and weighing approximately 150 lbs. Besides the oil, the emu also produces a red, low cholesterol and low fat meat as well as a world class leather. But it is the oil that is attracting serious attention from the medical profession as well as the cosmetic industry.

The Australian Aborigines have known for centuries that the oil of the emu possesses very special properties, which explains its role as a traditional Aboriginal medicine. The Aborigines have used emu oil as a skin moisturizer, antiseptic, and as an aid in the relief of muscular aches joint pain and sunburn.

One of the most remarkable attributes of Emu Oil is the effectiveness it has in comforting stiff muscles and joints. Emu Oil is currently undergoing testing in Australia and the United States for its effectiveness on arthritis pain, as well as its ability to heal sprains and bruises caused by sports and other activities. Emu oil contains naturally a high level of linolenic acid a substance known to ease muscle ache and joint pain. and oleic acid, which provides a local anti-inflammatory effect. Dr. A. Zemtsov (Assistant Professor in Dept. of Dermatology and Biochemistry at Texas Tech University's Health Science Center) discovered the Emu oil to be highly penetrating, a good emulsifier, BACTERIOSTATIC (does not promote growth of bacteria), Hypoallergenic (has a low irritating potential), and is NON-COMEDOGENIC (non pore clogging). Currently many cosmetic and pharmaceutical companies are researching LIPOSOMES, which are highly penetrating and can go through the skin barrier carrying any medication with it. EMU Oil is a natural occurring substance with these qualities.
